Why Reggio?

The Reggio Emilia approach at Spokane Valley Parent Cooperative  is all about letting kids lead their own learning. It's like giving them a treasure map and letting them explore on their own, with teachers and parents there to help along the way. Kids get to learn by doing things they're interested in, like playing with toys, painting, or even digging in the dirt. This way, they really understand what they're learning because it's fun and hands-on. Plus, parents get to be involved too, so it's like a big family learning adventure. That's why Spokane Valley Cooperative Preschool loves using this approach – because it lets kids be curious, creative, and excited about learning!

“There is an inner voice that pushes children on, but this force is greatly multiplied when they are convinced that facts and ideas are resources, just as their friends and the adults in their lives are precious resources. It is especially at this point that children expect – as they have from the beginning of their life adventure – the help and truthfulness of grownups”.

Loris Malaguzzi (from the catalogue of the exhibit ‘The Hundred Languages of Children’)
